QuickBooks Runtime error! Resolved! Solved!!!

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

For  3 weeks I had a hell of time, pain and anguish!

I kept getting this error on QuickBooks.

" Runtime error! Program:\c:ProgramFiles\Intuit\QuickBooks Pro\qbw32.exe this application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."

So here is how to resolve this,

1.    1. You need to uninstall QuickBooks

Windows 7:

a.    Click the Windows Start button and select Control Panel.

b.    Double-click Programs and Features.

c.    In the list of programs, select QuickBooks and click Uninstall.

d.    Follow the instructions to uninstall QuickBooks.

Windows Vista:

a.    Click the Windows Start button and select Control Panel.

b.    Double-click Programs and Features.

c.    In the list of programs, select QuickBooks and click Uninstall/Change.

d.    Follow the instructions to uninstall QuickBooks.

Windows XP:

a.    Click the Windows Start button and select Control Panel.

b.    Double-click Add/Remove Programs.

c.    In the list of programs, select QuickBooks and click Remove.

d.    Follow the instructions to remove QuickBooks.

Note: If you are using QuickBooks 2007, repeat the steps above to also uninstall the QuickBooks Product Listing service.

2.    2. Then manually remove QuickBooks installation folders

Very Important: If you have other Intuit products installed (such as Quicken, TurboTax, ProSeries, or other versions of QuickBooks), you should rename the Intuit folders instead of removing them.

Windows 7 or Vista

QuickBooks 2007 and later:

·         C:\Program Data\Intuit

·         C:\Program Data\Common Files\Intuit

·         C:\Users\<current user>\AppData\Local\Intuit

·         C:\Program Files\Intuit

·         C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit

Windows XP or 2000

QuickBooks 2007 and later:

·         C:\Program Files\Intuit

·         C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit

·         C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit

·         C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Common Files\Intuit

QuickBooks 2006 and earlier:

·         C:\Program Files\Intuit

·         C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit

·         C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit

Important: If other Intuit products are installed on your computer, uninstall only the QuickBooks folders stored inside the Intuit folder: C:\Program Data\Intuit (Windows 7 or Vista) or C:\Program Files\Intuit (Windows XP).

If the Application Data or Program Data folder is not visible:

Windows 7 or Vista

1.    Click the Start button and select Computer.

2.    In the upper left, click the Organize button.

3.    Select Folder and Search Options.

4.    Click the View tab.

5.    Click Show hidden files and folders.

6.    Click OK.

Windows XP:

1.    Right-click on the Start button and select Explore.

2.    Choose Tools > Folder Options.

3.    Click the View tab, and then under Advanced Settings, select the Show hidden files and folders checkbox.

4.    Click OK.

3.    3. Install QuickBooks again

4.    4. Run updates

5.    5. Open your company profile

-       Wrong way: See how when opening the company profile you run QuickBooks from the start Menu. DO NOT DO THAT!

-       Right way: Go to your company profile on your computer, and double click on QBW

Smile your way home.. Hope you don’t struggle the way I did.
